Another video in our Warehouse Design series, Brian explains a simple way to measure for pallet rack in your warehouse and explains how you can order the correct compontents for your warehouse. A question we often get is how do I figure out how many beams and uprights do I need to rack per-say, 100 feet of rack.

With the 100 feet, we will assume 8 foot bays, that is 8 foot clear between uprights. One way to do it is take 100/8, which will come up with 12 bays. Then, take that 12 x 8, which equals 96. This is 96 feet of actual beam width. But, we are going to need 13 uprights to make those 12 bays. Most uprights are 3 inches wide, times 13 is 39 inches, which comes out to be 3’3. Our overall run is 99′
3″, which stays within our 100 feet.

So, there is 12 bays, depending on how many beam levels you have, lets say 5, which is 10 beams overall. Then take 12 x 10, which is 120 beams and if you are using wire decking would be 120 wire decks as well.
