In Episode 302 of IKEA Home Tour, the Squad helps an entrepreneur get the most out of her cluttered garage by converting it into a stylish home boutique that still functions as a storage space for her and her family.
Jennifer Atkinson became a fashion consultant working out of her home in order to spend more time with her husband and their three kids while still contributing to the household income. With limited space in their house, she has had to set up her clothing inventory in their garage which is already being used for storing household items. Jennifer is embarrassed to have clients over with the garage in its current state, and she knows that a total makeover is essential to the future success of her home boutique.
Thanks to the IKEA Home Tour Squad, the Atkinsons’ garage is transformed into an organized and welcoming space perfect for displaying merchandise and hosting clients, with any clutter neatly stored away and out of sight. For her clothing racks on the boutique side, the Squad chose the ALGOT series featuring wall-mounted top and bottom shelves and plenty of clothing racks for Jennifer’s inventory. To provide lighting throughout the entire space, the Squad installed ceiling lamps with LAKHEDEN shades, which are great for brightening up the space so clients can see the vibrant colors of the clothing. To increase the garage storage on both sides, the Squad installed racks with a variety of SAMLA boxes with lids. Jennifer can use translucent storage boxes on the boutique side in order to display the various colors of her pieces, and opaque storage boxes on the garage side to ensure household items don’t deter from the shopping atmosphere. The household storage bins are smartly concealed behind a VIDGA track system with curtains. The garage’s greatest upgrade is a dressing room, separated from the rest of the boutique with light colored MARIAM curtains, which provide privacy and allow Jennifer’s clients to try on clothing without going into the house.
