A fixed camera films a long parade of mourners – military (including 2 marching bands one playing one not) and medical representatives (female nurses dressed in black gowns some in white outfits). The coffin, draped in the British Union Jack flag and with a wreath of lilies lying on it, is pulled by a team of horses on a gun carriage. Hundreds of mourners, including laymen, dignitaries, members of the clergy, nursing profession and armed forces, gather outside a small church. Her funeral was at Norwich Cathedral which is possibly the old building in the film. Camera pans among the masses of floral tributes. Motor cars bearing military dignitaries. Parade of uniformed soldiers with their rifles reversed. (Order Arms) Crowds line the pavements.

Edith Cavell (1865-1915) Born in the county of Norfolk, East England. She became a nurse in 1895 and matron of the Berkendael Medical Institute, Brussels, in 1907. She tended friend and foe alike in the Great War 1914-1915, but was executed by the Germans for helping Belgian and Allied fugitives to escape capture.
